Planning

Getting your timings right is crucial for the smooth running of your day. It's best to work backwards from the evening do and avoid time where nothing is happening, as this can slow the day down.

Plan when and what you're going to eat on the morning of the wedding. It sounds simple but a lot of people forget to eat - the last thing you want is to start swooning in the middle of the ceremony from lack of food!

Speeches can be nerve-wracking but, if you can, try to leave them until after the meal. Once the guests have had a few drinks and are relaxed and full, they're more likely to laugh at the jokes and enjoy the speeches. It takes the pressure off the speakers a little bit when the guests are already chilled out.

On the day, just let it happen. Don't worry about little things - just enjoy yourself and take it all in. Try not to let nerves get the better of you - remember why you're here and love every second of it. Stay chilled and you'll have a wonderful day.
